Let’s go USA!

Writing this post on April 4th, we’re exactly one month down from my girlfriend, Liesbeth, and I moving over to the land of the free, the land of stars and stripes, the land of burgers and Budweiser, the land of Trump and…. guess, you’ve got the point by now. USA, here we come!

Cubigo’s been active in the US for the past two years, but now we’re getting serious. Business in Europe is going well, so it’s time to start preparing for the next level. The US market is aging at a very rapid pace and senior care providers, investors and governments are all starting to realize that digital means will be crucial in keeping this upside down population pyramid standing. The United States is where we need to be at if we claim to be the one company that will help you age independently and healthy through one central platform that connects all parties involved in caregiving.

Go Team USA!

One month ago, I joined Cubigo and in the meanwhile I have had the chance to get to know the Cubigo team, the platform they designed and the market. I have visited assisted living facilities, spoken to industry experts and end users, tested each and every function of the platform myself and discussed business strategy and ways of working. All of this to prepare myself for a successful US roll-out and, who knows, maybe also a funding round? I for one am convinced of Cubigo’s potential and I’m looking forward to kick start its US business development.

What more do you need to know?

Where we’ll be living? The customer’s voice is central at Cubigo. So, Liesbeth and I will be staying at an apartment of Brookdale Senior Living in Redwood City, CA. Yes, you’re right, we’ll be living in the middle of a senior care center. Not only will we be living there, we’ll also be running a Cubigo pilot in the building together.

Current vs Future Office — Which one was in Silicon Valley again?

Why Redwood City? I’d almost forgot to mention, but Redwood City is squeezed between downtown San Francisco and Silicon Valley. Guess I don’t need to explain there’s no better place to discuss innovation, look for partnerships and think over funding? On top of that, California is also the state with the most assisted living facilities and we’ve already got a couple of Cubigo pilots running in the state. Need any more reason? Then let’s talk the weather and surroundings :)

Why Cubigo? Rewind to mid 2015 when I received a Prince Albert Fund grant, I got the chance to pick the company I’d work for the next year. Cubigo was my n° 1 choice and one month at the company proved me right. I won’t go into every product detail right now (but more on that later, promised!), but let me just say that I haven’t seen many companies that are as visionary, agile and well managed as Cubigo.

Hope you’re as enthusiast as me about Cubigo’s, Liesbeth’s and my own US adventures, as I’ll be posting regular updates on this page from now on.
