This spring Cultured Books hosted KidsLit!: Poetry in the Gardens for the 2019 SunLit Festival. It was a beautiful afternoon at the Carter G. Woodson Museum exploring #socialjustice poetry.

Wally B. of Heard ’Em Say, lead an engaging open mic that inspired many to perform their work!

There were poetry stations; from blackout to magnetic. Performances by Heard ’Em Say teen poets, Sara Ries, and voice actor Eric H. Hollaway Sr.

Poet, Sara Ries looks on as kids take the mic.

We’re in the works to host another Poetry in the Gardens soon, so follow us on Facebook for updates!:)

This event wouldn’t have been amazing without the support of our community!

Thank you to the Dr. Carter G. Woodson Museum, Kitchen Table Literary Arts, Deuces Live, Inc., The Weekly Challenger, Keep St. Pete Lit!, Heard ’Em Say Youth Arts Collective, Sara Ries, Eric H. Hollaway, Sr., Nadia + Ava Hardy, YaYa Fofana, and all volunteers who made KidsLit!: Poetry in the Gardens a success:)
