Top international performance artists to visit Dublin as part of the Dublin Live Art Festival 2017

The Dublin Live Art Festival is celebrating its 6th edition and has just announced its line-up for this years event. This year they promise to deliver four days and nights of hardcore performance art whilst continuing in their tradition of bringing some of the world’s leading performance artists to Dublin.

Base camp for the festival this year is the north-side’s premiere arts venue The Complex, off Dublin’s Capel Street, and the festival will run from Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th of August. …

A group of artists are to have their say on the issue of migration with a collaborative project planned for Ireland’s Culture Night on Friday, September 22nd, 2017.

With recent political developments in Europe and the U.S. it is hardly a surprise that debates about immigration have continued to remain one of the top political issues of 2017.

By way of response, the 5th edition of the New Voices of Ireland Series 2017 themed: “Migration — from burdens to opportunities” was launched in Ashford Heritage Centre last week.

The project is curated and presented by the Centre for Creative Practices (CFCP) and aims “to bring together migrant, experimental and emerging artists, to creatively debate socially relevant topics”. …

Salvatore Sciarrino one of the world’s most original and most radical composers, visits Ireland for the first time on Saturday. He will be hosted by the Louth Contemporary Music Society and attend concerts in Dundalk. That he has not a greater reputation in the English-speaking world is among the mysteries of the contemporary music business. Over the past half century he has produced a vast body of work — there are scores of CDs of Sciarrino’s music available — much of it written for the voice. …

Two of Europe’s most important composers are coming to Ireland in June for a new festival called SILENZIO

The last few years it feels as if the summer calendar is inundated with new festivals and cultural events. Well SILENZIO festival is kicking off from June 23–24 and is offering something a little different. The festival is being organised by a group called The Louth Contemporary Music Society and the aim of the gig is to turn Dundalk town into an unlikely European destination for contemporary music.
