Most Netflix series are simple; there is a villain; there is a hero; there is a predictable outcome. In some cases, though, after delving deep into the Netflix archives, you find a gem; the series you had been crying out for; a series that requires focus and takes you on a thrilling journey which questions your morality along the way.

Breaking Bad was this series over a decade ago; Prison Break, too, had its moment in the spotlight. But those days are long gone. It was time for a new show to take the spotlight, which forces us to root for characters that should be seen as the villains. And that very spotlight is now transfixed onto Money Heist: A Spanish spoken series focused around the biggest robberies of all time. It’s not just any classic bank robbery show/film, however.

Inside the bank, it is like a separate reality TV show; there’s romance, drama, even some funny moments alongside some heartwrenching ones. What is simply masked robbers at the start, become your favourite character based on emotions, persona and certain moments. Even the hostages themselves become inadvertently part of the messed up heist family. Each character is striving towards a collective mission, yet also find themselves on a personal side quest at some stage of the series.
