Curb Convo with Kate Weiler: Designer

Meet Kate — She’s a Curb designer, creative thinker, and travel lover. Today, she’s sharing all things design with us!

Tell us about your role at Curb Crowser & how you got into design.

I am a designer here at Curb; designing print, packaging, and point-of-purchase displays for our clients. Usually using the computer to execute these.

I got interested in design in high school. I always loved art class and being able to learn creatively. I thought it was really fun to create posters and photoshop pictures with the design tools on a computer after taking a class. I knew early on this was the career path I wanted.

What’s the coolest part of your job?

Getting to be creative every day! I really like concepting and doing hands-on projects as well.

What’s something you wish everyone knew about design?

Good design takes time. Sometimes it requires a lot of iterations and trying things you wouldn’t necessarily think would work to get to the best solution.

What’s your dream design project?

My dream design project would probably be designing artwork for bands or art directing for brand photoshoots.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

I read quite a bit and find other ways to be creative without computers, such as watercolor painting, cross stitching and photography. I really enjoy traveling and am always planning my next trip abroad.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you / a fun fact about yourself?

I was a dancer for 15 years and competed until college.
