“We realize the importance of light when we see darkness.” — Malala Yousafzai

Imagine you are lost in the middle of a dense forest and the light is beginning to fade. You can no longer tell which direction will lead you out, and which will lead you deeper into the wild. As emotions become untethered and hope becomes intangible, your instincts may tell you to stay on the familiar path and avoid the unknown that lurks in the shadows.

However, if you are brave enough to lean into the darkness and find stillness, you may find that your eyes adjust. Before long, the ominous unknown becomes familiar territory and you see that the forest is still alive and thriving. Once you reconnect with your immediate reality, you look up to discover a faint glimmer on the horizon, and the breaks in the branches illuminate a path you did not notice before. Now you can find your footing and move with the light, one step at a time.

So, brave ones, in times when darkness feels all-consuming and the horizon is out of sight, be still. As your minds eye adjusts to the reality within the shadow, you might just find a glimmer of possibility- ahead of you, around you and within you.

Questions to hold
What light is already there, waiting for you to catch?
How can you adjust your sights to find a new path?
What truth can dispel F.E.A.R. and reveal the false evidence appearing real?
What beauty can you illuminate, offering others a glimmer of hope?

Food for thought.
