In 1924, two British climbers, George Mallory and Andrew “Sandy” Irvine, set out on an ambitious mission to conquer Mount Everest. Their goal was clear: to be the first to reach the summit of the world’s highest peak. However, their story ended in mystery, and to this day, we still don’t know if they achieved their goal.

Thirty-eight-year-old George Mallory was an experienced mountaineer, known for his climbing prowess and passion for Everest. He had been on two previous British expeditions to Everest and was known for being one of Britain’s best rock climbers. On the other hand, Andrew Irvine was a younger climber with a background in engineering, bringing valuable skills to the expedition. He had no Himalayan or high-altitude climbing experience, however, he was good at repairing the controversial oxygen instrument used by British climbers at high elevations. Together, they formed an excellent team.
