Andrew Jackson, was born on March 15, 1767, in the Carolinas and was the 7th president of the United States of America. He faced lots of hardships from the start, losing his father just three weeks before his birth. Growing up in poverty in the WaxHaws area, life became even tougher with the onset of the Revolutionary War.

Tragedy struck early when he lost his brother, Hugh Jackson, in the Battle of Stono Ferry in 1779. At the tender age of 13, Andrew found himself compelled to defend his nation. He enlisted in the army, only to be captured by the British alongside his brother, Robert. It was during his time in British custody that Andrew underwent an ordeal that would leave lasting scars — both physical and emotional.
