Depending on your content marketing strategy, certain social media sites might be great tools for your content distribution.

But social media sites, such as Facebook or Twitter, are just tools.

They are only as powerful as the content you produce.

Content is Power

You may not be one with words, but that doesn’t make content any less important.

If you want followers to take a closer look at your products and services, you need to give them good content.

Think of this as a way for you to inform and entertain your followers.

Great content is considered a fail-proof way to build your brand.

When it comes to social media content, it is actually the same as the content on your website, in a company brochure, or in a business index. The big difference is condensing the content to be shared socially.

Here are some helpful tips to help your business build an excellent social media content strategy:

1. Know Your Audience

You do not have to build your audience immediately; after all, that is what social media content strategy is all about. However, you will need to know what your audience is looking for, and how you can give it to them.

Your strategy should focus on the content that your audience enjoys.

For example, Apple Music uses photos of the artist or album that it is promoting, along with a quote from the song, or a title of a track or album.

The quote and title that Apple Music uses is always energetic and engaging enough to make followers want to download the music.

The more you understand your audience, the more successful your social media content strategy will be.

2. Stay with your Niche

Although you want to build your content around your followers, you should never deviate from your brand.

Stay with your niche and tailor the content accordingly. This is what will set your content apart from other brands.

The best way to establish yourself as an influencer in your niche is to create content that people can learn from.

For example, almost every Hewlett Packard Enterprise post highlights its niche, which is the equipment that the company sells.

The posts include visuals pertaining to its products, or the equipment in its industry.

The images push Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s products, and the content rewards or informs its followers.

Take your time and adapt your social media updates and content to your brand’s niche.

3. Hashtags are the New Keywords

The main objective of your social media presence is to build a larger following. Therefore, you need to do some research pertaining to effective keywords and how you can turn them into hashtags.

Visit the list of trending hashtags and see how they relate to your business.

Although you want to keep most of your hashtags and keywords related to your company, it is okay to include a popular hashtag or two.

This will help your social media page come up in the search. However, be sure that the hashtag you use connects to your business somehow.

Keywords still matter…

For keywords, you should use one of the many social media tools that find the best keywords for your content. Most of these tools will allow you to analyze the keywords side-by-side to find out which is the most popular.

4. Interact with your Followers

Sure you can post the best content each day, but a good strategy includes social engagement. In fact, this is crucial for most brands today.

When you engage your followers, you are showing the personality behind your brand, through live content.

Here are some easy ways to engage your audience:

  • Ask questions related to your content.
  • Take polls that provide you with accurate, and up-to-date, feedback.
  • Give away freebies.
  • Ask followers to post photos with your product, and re-post as many of those as you can.

Becoming a social media powerhouse will take some time, and lots of work. Remember to tailor your content to your niche, interact with your followers, offer valuable information, and choose the best hashtags (keywords). This is a good social media content strategy to help build your brand, and to lead you on the path to becoming a social media influencer.
