How I Stopped Worrying and Learned to Love Design Thinking

Really enjoyed reading this article, especially because a lot of it is practical examples rather than simply theory.

That said, I do think design thinking as a concept is overhyped. Many of the ideas presented are routinely used by people and companies (large and small) – they just don’t brand it as DT. For me, that doesn’t matter, in the same way that Agile glorifies the process, rather than celebrating the value of its elements, even if people achieve it by dropping in and out of Agile at will.

I would hate design thinking to become a cult, like Agile or Six Sigma became – as a customer experience researcher, mostly working in healthcare, I’ve been fighting against allowing methodology to become bigger than the insight. Design thinking and its supporters need to safeguard against this too.
