How do I find my spectrum WiFi password?

The first thing you should do when you get a new router from Spectrum is to change the default name and password for the wireless network. This makes it easier for you to save your WiFi password.

How to change the name and password of your Spectrum WiFi network on a Spectrum router

1. Find your router’s IP address on the back of your Spectrum router. You can find this next to the router login. Usually this is 192.168.1.1. However, it can change too, depending on your setup. If you want to learn more about Spectrum outage and Spectrum bill pay check out guide here.

Note: To make your work easier, it is best to make a note of your router login, your user name and your password. You will need this information later.

2. Then open a web browser. This can be Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or whatever web browser you want to use.

3. Next, enter your router’s IP address in the address bar.

4. Then press Enter on your keyboard.

o Note: If you see a warning screen saying “Your connection is not private”, click Advanced, then click Next.

5. Next, enter the name and password for your Spectrum router and click log In. You should be able to find this information on your router as well. Note: This does not match your WiFi username and password. For most Spectrum routers, the default web access username is admin and the password is also admin.

6. Then click on Advanced. You will see this at the top of your window. If you don’t see this, you can skip this step.

7. Next, select the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz WiFi control panel. If you have a dual band router, you can choose between two different bands, each with its own WiFi network name and password. If you want to learn more about the difference between the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, read our article here.

8. Then click the Basic tab.

9. Next, enter a new network name in the SSID field. An SSID (Service Set Identifier) ​​is simply another term for your network name.

10. Then enter a new WiFi password. You can find this field in the Security Settings section.

11. Then confirm your new WiFi password. Enter your new password again in the field below

12. Finally, click Apply. This option is at the bottom right of the page. Clicking this button will save your changes.
