Gm anon,

To celebrate our first Twitter anniversary, we created a set of 117 cvgPepe inscriptions (also called Ordinals NFTs) on Bitcoin. We’ve distributed one hundred of them for free among our Twitter community, and 17 are reserved for the team and early investors.

Here is a global sum-up of what you need to know about manipulating Convergence’s NFTs.

Ethereum collection and its Ordinals counterpart on Bitcoin:

Each NFT on Ethereum mainnet has an identical twin that has been inscribed on Bitcoin as an Ordinal.

NFTs can be minted on the Ethereum mainnet by whitelisted users. After minting, users have 2 choices:

  • (1) keep the NFT on Ethereum and use it as an ordinary NFT,
  • (2) burn the NFT by providing a valid Taproot Bitcoin address directly in the dApp. Users will then receive the corresponding cvgPepe in their Bitcoin wallet.

cvgPepes are currently safely stored in a Bitcoin node/wallet associated with the Convergence team. We will send them in daily batches to those who burned their NFT.

Taproot address creation using Sparrow’s non-custodial wallet:

Holding a cvgPepe on the Bitcoin blockchain requires a Taproot Bitcoin address. There are multiple ways to do so, from the hard to the easy way.

The hard way is to have a dedicated server running a bitcoin-core node and using the Ord set of tools by Casey Rodarmor.

An alternative to using Ord and a Bitcoin-core server is the Sparrow wallet. To do that, you can find an excellent third-party explanation here and a nice video on YT there.

The easy way is to use a third-party tool from the Generative guys that allows using a regular MetaMask wallet to create a Taproot address (the website does it for you) and to receive and visualize the NFT. Currently, it is the most convenient way to receive, visualize and send Ordinals NFTs. Note that if you chose that path, you cannot import your private key from Generative to your Sparrow wallet, but you can send it to your Sparrow wallet.

Visualize your ordinal:

Using Generative to visualize your NFT is straightforward and behaves like a regular marketplace. If you choose to hold your NFT using Sparrow or Ord, you can only visualize it using this link with its inscription number that we will provide you.

Ordinals and related services:

Once fully minted, cvgPepes will be listed on the existing Bitcoin NFTs marketplaces, Ordswap and Ordinaldirectory.

Q&A:

What happens if I wrongly sent my ordinal to a SegWit address?

Don’t worry; your inscription is not lost. To recover it, you need to send the UTXO back to a Taproot address, and it will be available again.

What happens if I wrongly sent my ordinal with some other UTXOs in a transaction and they are now mixed together?

Your UTXO is now part of a bigger UTXO. You can still recover the original UTXO holding the sat with the inscription, but it requires some fine transaction surgery to separate the two mixed UTXOs. Please get in touch with us so that we can dig more precisely into the details.

What happens if my ordinal has not enough sats in its UTXO?

Each time you send your inscription, depending on the amount of gas you have used for the transaction, a few sats are taken from the UTXO (luckily, at the end of it). Eventually, all sats will be consumed in transactions. However, you still hold your Ordinal as long as the first sat is not consumed. You can add some sats at the end of the UTXO using Sparrow for example, but it is pretty technical. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us so that we can guide you through this process.
