Ackoff have any books that you've read? I'm curious to read more of his stuff!
To change the system, we need to be in control of the system. And that's probably the most daunting challenge for international schools — and I imagine for schools in the US. We're really not in control on the ground level. When you're trying to design a system around the very rigid constraints of an outside entity, systems immediately begin to collapse, unless one system acquiesces. And, last time I checked, the external systems certainly aren't relinquishing their control.
In the 80’s and 90’s when few resources were available online about curriculum, it might have made sense to sell ourselves out to an outside source. However, now that I can quickly, easily and cheaply find a plethora of GREAT resources on economics online, why would I ever need to do AP Econ or IB DP Econ?
Great post!
