Being stuck in the house for weeks on end can feel mentally taxing. One of the reasons that we don’t feel her self is when we have a haircut that has grown out and we are not looking our best. Having a great haircut is a fantastic way to look and feel great. It boosts our confidence, giving us extra energy and focus especially during a difficult time. Our new normal, quarantine life can be difficult. However, it does not have to be. Things like a quick trim, cutting her bangs, or an overall style refresh does not have to be put off. There professional tips and tricks to help us be our best selves even now.

Most of us have seen comical hair disasters either from somebody on social media or perhaps you’ve seen a kid or two decide to give themselves a haircut. Funny yes, but frustrating for any adult to see what a little one has done to their own hair.

I remember my first haircut, I decided to cut my little brother's hair and he decided to cut mine… It was not pretty! My mom was both laughing and upset to see what we’ve done to each other. It took much longer than I would’ve liked for my hair to grow back!

Using these Pro Tips you can avoid regrettable mistakes.

In this article, we will have basic tips for a professional-ish job as well as videos showing examples of how to cut different types of hair. Note: Most of the videos are for women’s hair.

1. Find an example of a cut you want. You can look on YouTube, Instagram, or Facebook for how do you look you’re going for. We have great video guides below showing different kinds of cuts you can do.

2.Set up your station. Optimally with a sink, wall mirror and handheld mirror so you can see the back of your head Easily, and trashcan handy. If you can put a plastic or cloth as a floor covering. This will make me up much easier! If possible make sure that you’re not disturbed so quiet room or bathroom is ideal. You don’t want to be startled or surprised when you’re cutting your hair and make a mistake.

3. To get a great haircut you need clean hair. If you have never cut your hair before ideally, you want to cut it while it’s dry. If you have hair before a damp head of hair is preferable. The reason you want your hair clean is that the oil from your scalp affects the hair and how it lays on your hood. When it’s clean and dry the air falls the way you would see it once it styled.

4. Make sure that you have a good pair of scissors to cut your hair. If you don’t have them you can easily find them online or at Target, or Walmart. Good scissors and a quality con that can easily run through your hair are what do you need for a good haircut. Also, make sure that you have hair ties, barrettes, or bobby pins to hold your hair in sections.

5. Section off your hair putting it where you typically would. Dividing your hair down the middle or to the side allows you to more easily see the section of your hair and how your hair has already been cut. It is especially helpful if you’re just looking to trim the ends of your hair.

6. Take your time, cutting the least amount off at first. You can always go back and trim more but it takes time for your hair to grow back. Since we have time right now take all the time you need so that you won’t regret the cut.

7. Use the comb as a guide and a way to divide your hair into small sections that are easier to cut. Point the scissors in the direction you plan to cut and as you cut each strand close the scissors evenly and smoothly.
