How to Turn on or off Restrictions/Screen Time on iPad

If your iPad is running iOS 11 or earlier, there is a useful feature called Restrictions that helps you set up a restriction on using apps or watching YouTube videos, especially for your child. In this article, you will learn how to turn restrictions on or off on iPad.

Part 1: What’s the difference between Restrictions and Screen Time?

If you’re running iOS 11 or earlier, there’s the Restrictions feature; if you’re running iOS 12 or later, there’s Screen Time. Both features are designed to limit your usage time, but they have different names in different iOS versions.

Part 2: How to Turn on Restrictions on iPad?

iOS 11 or former:

Step 1: Go to Settings > General > Restrictions;

Step 2: Tap on the Enable Restrictions;

Step 3: Then you will be asked to enter a restrictions passcode and re-enter again;

iOS 12 or later:

Step 1: Go to Settings > Screen Time;

Step 2: Tap and open the Content & Privacy Restrictions;

Part 3: How to Turn off Restrictions on iPad?

iOS 11 or earlier:

Step 1: Go to Settings > General > Restrictions;

Step 2: Enter your Restrictions passcode and then tap Disable Restrictions;

iOS 12 or later:

Step 1: Go to Settings > Screen Time;

Step 2: Tap Turn off Screen Time and enter the screen time passcode to remove;

Part 4: How to Disable Restrictions without Passcode?
