The ASUS Nexus 7 2013 seems like a good tablet even now. It’s got pretty good specs, great price/performance ratio, and it’s super cheap. It’s on a lot of “best cheap tablets” lists.

However, I am here to warn you: do not buy the Nexus 7 2013.

I owned a Nexus 7 2013. The tablet was pretty good, and worked fairly well. However, the tablet has issues that no review seems to cover.

  1. Tablet screen has shoddy multitouch. Display degrades over time, and will go erratic at some point, forcing you to constantly lock and unlock the display and fight your way into getting input in the device.
  2. Aux port can break easily, making it hard or impossible to listen to music normally.
  3. microUSB port can break easily, forcing you to bend cables to get it to charge.
  4. Nexus lettering on the back peels off over time.
  5. Bluetooth interferes with WiFi

These issues plagued my tablet until I ended up throwing it out a few weeks ago. It lasted six months for me. Perhaps my model was defective, however, my friend knew someone with the tablet that had the same issues so I suspect there’s more to it.

In conclusion: Nexus 7 2013 has durability issues, do not purchase this tablet.
