Artificial Intelligence also known as AI is technology that enables computers and machines to simulate human intelligence and problem-solving capabilities.

AI has great potential to address the world, but at the same time, potential dangers must be taken into account regarding its development and use.

Unfortunately every rose has its thorn, thus AI has plenty of risks:

The primary danger is automation-induced job loss. AI can successfully automate many jobs.

By 2030, about 30% of the jobs in the U.S. economy might be automated. It disproportionately affects Black and Hispanic employees.

Deep fakes: AI-generated deep fakes can manipulate videos and audio, hence cause misinformation, identity theft, and privacy violations.
Privacy: AIs deal/utilize large masses of personal data, leading to privacy violations and surveillance.

Algorithmic Bias: Biased training data might result in AI-enabled discrimination. Work is under way for possible counter-measures to the bias but less yet on explaining the processes used.

Socioeconomic Inequality: AI adoption is believed to increase disparities, playing in favor of those who typically have access to the technology and resources needed.
Market Volatility: AI-driven trading can cause sudden shifts in markets leading to destabilization in the financial system.

Automated Weapons: Autonomous AI weapons pose hazardous attack and security threats. No human consequently questions the outcome.

Out of Control Self-Conscious AI: A purely speculative concept that involves a description of an AI that, in the future, can surpass human intelligence and taking actions independently.

It is essential to understand those risks for responsible AI development. The challenges are something that has to be addressed with transparency of development, ethical guidelines, and serious regulation to be robust.
