Overview

Cyberpunk City is one of the world’s first functioning metaverses built on Unreal Engine 5. It offers an immersive and unique gaming experience with various activities, such as battle royale, team deathmatch, and sci-fi car racing games, with an impressive selection of 10,000 customizable in-game NFT characters. In addition, Cyberpunk City is powered by MultiversX blockchain and provides users unparalleled security through its WalletConnect login system. Furthermore, Cyberpunk City delivers a unified platform for all its users, enabling them to access their social media, DeFi, GameFi, and NFT Marketplace accounts from within without the need to log in to them separately. Last but not least, Cyberpunk City’s atmosphere is ideal for socializing and holding events, making it the perfect place to be joined by the whole community.

Now we will dive deep down into the game itself.

Installation

To install the game, you need to go to the download link, and the game file will be downloaded automatically. When the download is over, you will need to extract the file from the zip. After that, you will start the exe inside of the folder.

Log-in

The only log-in method is the WalletConnect protocol with the xPortal app. Since the WalletConnect protocol gives us interoperability with the other blockchains, we will add 2 major blockchains (BNB Chain and Ethereum) into our metaverse.

Let’s see how everything works.

You will need to log in using WalletConnect. To do that, select WalletConnect, then xPortal | MultiversX. After that, use the QR code scanner on your phone from the xPortal app to scan the code, and upon approval, choose one of your characters.

Character Selection

Since we have a solid metaverse-blockchain collection, you can choose the character you have in your wallet. Each character has a different story, as you can see on the left side of your character selection screen. Choose the character you feel most related to by clicking on it and choosing select, but wait, you can customize the appearance of each and every character. More on that in the next topic.

Cyber Gears

You will see the Cyber Gear page (Select Clothes) in the lobby. You can see what is in your “Inventory“ by clicking on that button. After that, you will be able to customize your characters by choosing a suitable piece of clothing. If you have a piece of clothes that you can’t see in your inventory, try to change the gender of the character. Female clothes don’t fit male characters and vice versa (all shoes are unisex.) Do not forget that all the clothes are NFTs, and you can get them either by opening a box or buying them on the marketplace.

The background colors are a representation of the Cyber Gears rarity system in Cyberpunk City. Here is how it looks.

Settings

If you have low-resource pc parts in your computer, you may want to reduce the quality and increase the performance. But before doing that, you might want to take a screenshot (of the Graphics, and you can access that from Setting) to remember where everything was in case you don’t like the new changes.

You will know that you will need to reduce the quality if you have less than 60 FPS, but some people like to have lower FPS than to have lower graphics. You can decide which one you would like to have. So to do that, you should go to the Settings / Graphics page and lower the quality as follows:

  1. Texture Quality (low-Medium)
  2. Anti-Aliasing (FXAA)
  3. Upscaling (DLSS)
  4. Nvidia DLLS (Ultra Performance)

5. For everything below that, you can “mix and match” for the best performance (between Low and Hight).

Entering the metaverse

When you click to Enter Metaverse, you will make the first step in an exclusive futuristic metaverse. Here is where all the fun begins.

Now we can focus on what we can do in the metaverse! So, let’s Jump in!

When you enter the metaverse, you will start in a specific area defined by the developer team. This is a starting point for everyone.

You are in the metaverse now, and if you press the “ESC button,” you get to see the key bindings. These key binds show which key is responsible for what action inside the metaverse. Just press “ESC” again or hit “resume” to continue.

If you press the M button, you will see the map of the world. You can zoom in/out by using the scroll of your mouse.

You zoom in and out with the scroll wheel

Car Spawners

In the city, there are multiple car spawners called Whip-a-Ride. You can spawn a car from that kiosk when you want to take a ride. There are only 2 cars at the moment (QoWatt and Harlan), but there will be more cars in the future, for example, symbiosis cars.

xExchange ATMs

There are also xExchange portals where you can buy/sell $CYBER inside the city. It enables the players to make instant transactions as they do in the xexchange.com the only difference between the two platforms is you don’t need to log in to the xExchange website again,

You interact with the machine using the dedicated key on your Keyboard (F is the default key), and then you choose the “Swap From” and “Swap To” amounts and then hit “Swap,” then you will need to sign the transaction from your phone.

While exploring the metaverse, you have the convenience of seeing a live feed displaying coin/token prices. This feature lets you stay informed about the ever-changing market dynamics without leaving the environment. By keeping an eye on these real-time updates, you can make informed decisions about your investments or simply stay up-to-date within the ecosystem.

NFT purchase screens

When you walk down the streets, you will see some NFT screens. These screens show the floor price of NFTs in the marketplaces.

We’re using xoxno-API for listing these items, but since this platform is an aggregator, you will be able to see all NFTs from different marketplaces. By selecting one of these NFTs, a “sign the transaction” will appear on your xPortal app, and after confirmation, you will buy that NFT.

Battlezone

In the metaverse, you will be able to test the shooting mechanics. You will do it in a specific zone which is next to the place where you spawn. After a few seconds of entering this zone, 3 weapons will spawn, and you will be able to use them. The weapons are not something that you can keep. But you will always be able to use them in this area. Later on, there will be a gun airdrop, and you will be able to keep those ones.

Battle Mechanics

You can check the “Keyboard Layout” below for a deeper understanding of Cyberpunk City battle mechanics. You can also google words such as “Game Mapping” or “Key-Binds” in caseyou need more info (for any reason)

You should experiment with the game and not be afraid of breaking stuff. The goal of playing is to have fun, so enjoy.

Talking

During gameplay, you have the ability to communicate with other players by pressing the letter T to initiate voice chat. Additionally, as players come within a certain range of you, their voices become audible, allowing you to hear them. However, there may be instances when you wish to mute another person, perhaps due to excessive noise or any other reason. In such cases, you can press the X key to bring up the “Player List” and then select the individual you want to mute.

(Left picture) no one is near you. (Right picture) One muted member.

Dance and Emote

In our immersive metaverse, you have the freedom to express yourself and connect with others in unique ways. One exciting feature is the ability to dance and showcase your favorite emotions while interacting with other players. Just like you saw in the trailer, this dynamic element creates a lively and enjoyable environment for everyone involved.

It might look something small, but it’s a fantastic way to break the ice, form connections, and infuse energy into the digital realm. So, let the metaverse become a playground of shared joy and entertainment.

Easter Egg

Within the metaverse, we have hidden a few Easter eggs, each containing a surprise for you to discover. These Easter eggs are carefully tucked away in various corners of the city, awaiting explorers like yourself.

So, dive into the metaverse, keep your eyes peeled, and let the thrill of discovery guide you as you search for these Easter eggs. Who knows what treasures await those who are determined to uncover them all?

Game Development

We plan to keep the Alpha for one or two weeks considering the fact that Alpha is a demo. It’s hard to keep developing the game while it’s operational (it needs maintenance and other things). However, if the devs see that it can go for longer, then we can expand the period.

Let’s take a look from the devs’ perspective.
Creating a 3D model is relatively easy, but making it game-ready with optimization and visual appeal is a more complex process. We must ensure that the assets are optimized, don’t overlap, and are visually appealing while maintaining functionality. This involves various steps, such as weight painting, which can be time-consuming but necessary to achieve the desired results. While it may not be apparent to those unfamiliar with game development, these tasks require considerable effort and time investment. Therefore, it was vital for us to prioritize these tasks at this stage of development.

As for the decision to keep the alpha release for a limited time, there are a few detailed reasons behind it:

Maintaining the hype: By keeping the alpha release as a short-lived demonstration, we can create anticipation and build excitement for the future of Cyberpunk City. It can be seen as the first glimpse into our vision for the metaverse.

Resource allocation: It’s challenging to split our time and resources between developing the game and maintaining a prolonged alpha release. Even major gaming companies often release time-limited alpha versions to ensure efficient resource allocation.

Bug fixing: Alpha releases are bound to have bugs and issues. By having a limited time frame, we can gather valuable feedback and address any bugs or problems before the beta release. This approach allows us to take a more professional approach, similar to what AAA companies do.

Here are some of the accomplishments we’ve achieved so far:

- Character designs
- Clothing designs
- Game development
- City design
- City game assets
- Harlan Car Collection (under development)
- Animations
- Locomotion system
- Wallet Connect implementation (First integration for Unreal Engine)
- UI/UX design for the game (under development)
- Web design
- Smart contract development
- Cyberpunk Stake
- xExchange listing
- Partnerships with Proteo, Hatom, EAPES, and more
- Listings on Coingecko & Coinmarketcap
- Game Launcher (under development)
- Text and Voice Chat development

We hope this explanation helps you understand our perspective and the reasons behind our decisions. We value your feedback and will strive to improve our communication moving forward. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know on or Telegram or Discord groups.

We also have plans to conduct an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session to provide more detailed information, clarification, etc., about the development process. We will announce the details of the AMA soon.

About Cyberpunk City

Cyberpunk City, one of the world’s first blockchain-enabled Metaverse MMOs, was developed by a group of enthusiastic developers who are proud to be a part of the MultiversX ecosystem and want to contribute to its further development. One of Cyberpunk City’s many unique features is the “Own the Game” concept behind it. We developed this concept to combat the rapid inflations caused by the “Play to Earn” system. To put it simply: by owning an NFT, you get to own the game.
