As an American chef of 100% Northern European DNA, I have been accused of cultural appropriation for specializing in Asian fusion food. I have been bewildered by this because, truly, what is a chef supposed to cook that isn’t culturally appropriated? About the only thing truly white American is lime Jello with grated carrots in it and a dollop of mayo. This article expressed much of my frustration. I especially appreciated the line about from whom I should ask permission.
