Practical ways to enlightened your Mood and Spirit.

Are you someone who has mood swings from time to time, or someone who feels lonely, lazy and going down the slippery slope of depression. Human emotions are quite unpredictable, but they can be handled with great attention and practice over time.

To become the master of your emotions will demand that you define the emotion, accept the emotion for what it is, analyze what brought it up like your thoughts or someone’s action, critically ask yourself why it affected you and then find ways to uplift yourself from it.

Now, here are some practical ways by which you can take over, switch off the negative, unproductive vibe or spirit you found yourself in, and take control of your happiness.

  1. Write a journal.

Journaling involves writing out the special events that occurred in a day, your thoughts, feelings, wishes, plans as well as your reactions to a situation. Writing them out will help you to ascertain or reduce the tension that came with a particular emotion.

2. Go out for some fresh air.

A walk around your vicinity or through the park will do. Open your mind and pay attention to the natural colors, patterns and activities that exist. The chirping of birds, and the motions of the fallen leaves along the direction of breeze can work magic when it comes to distracting a disturbed mind. Just pay more attention during your walk.

3. Find someone in the neighborhood and offer help.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a child, a teen, an adult or the aged. Help can be in the form of listening to someone share about their day or opening up to share their worries. We all are going through some hard times, at some level and point in life. So don’t feel that yours is the worst.

4. Rearrange your Space.

Your personal space could be your room, or your working area, the workout section, or your entire house. Try altering the arrangement or decoration to a new one. You would be amazed at how fast you get lost into it.

5. Browse your wardrobe.

This is a personal favorite of mine and it works faster for me too. You could pulled out your drawers, draw apart the hangers and try matching outfits. A pant you had left at the bottom of the drawer could go great with a different shirt, some sneaker and the different pattern of packing your hairstyle. Mix those colors you have not tried before and check it out before a mirror. The beauty of your spirit will sprang up with the colors you see on yourself.

6. Play your favorite song.

I had to make myself some playlists for different emotions/purposes, last year. It varies from self care, to lullaby, to celebration, to worship, to Classics etc. Just ensure that it’s suitable for you and the purpose. And, don’t hesitate to play one for yourself through those moments. The favorite and most-played, on my Self-care playlist is “Try” by Colbie Caillat.

7. Sleep.

Sleeping has been repeated over time to be helpful in relaxation of the body nerves and all. A good lullaby or meditation song in the background, would help you to ease into a deep sleep.

8. Try finding out what helps you to ease off from bad emitions.

It could be singing, drawing, painting, chatting with someone, trying out a new activity, writing, organising etc. There are many options, so explore and find your what works for you.
