A Lazy Wednesday

66.

I’m going to keep the countdown on every post now. It’ll motivate me, I promise.

I’m writing this now, because I’ll be working late this evening, and I need to keep my goal of posting every day. This ensures my capability of doing so.

Today has been low output for me, but for once I don’t feel guilty. I wrote almost 4000 words yesterday, an improvement on my overall output for the last few months. I know that yesterday it was because I wrote when I felt like writing. Today is the same thing. I’ve chosen not to force myself, and as a result, I feel relaxed.

Which has given me the freedom I need to brainstorm without restraint.

So I’ve been plotting. I know the full outline to my current story, and I’ve already begun plotting the next one. This isn’t something I do lightly. It usually takes me a long time to commit an outline to paper, just because I like to be freer in my process. But the path ahead is certain.

And I’m excited to make it happen once the muse strikes again. He’ll probably visit me tonight, when I’m supposed to be sleeping and my mind won’t shut up. This is typical, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

A talkative muse is worth staying up for, no matter the hour. That’s why coffee was invented. I’m sure of it.

Tonight I’ll get my words in, because I’ll want to then. I can feel it on the horizon. Also, the six hour shift between then and now will likely contribute to the emotional need of writing. Frustration is a curious motivator.

I can’t say I have much wisdom to offer about today. There’s nothing exciting going on, and there’s no great obstacle in my path, either. It’s just a lazy Wednesday, a blank canvas ready to be painted.

And that’s really the best kind of day, isn’t it?

The page will warm up soon, and then I’ll strike when the page is hot.

Good luck to your artistic endeavors, reader!

Peace and love,
