Weekly Update — Sept 8, 2018

It was another exciting week at Cypherglass. We are still hanging in the top 21, and are currently sitting at number seventeen. The most exciting thing we did this week was announce the winner of the $100K hardware wallet bounty. CryptoFairy (AKA Taras) came away with the loot. It was a close battle between him and AltShiftDev. Ultimately, it was a slight nod from the Ledger team that sealed the victory. Our heart goes out to AltShiftDev as they did a great job. One thing we learned is that bounties like this are great for the community, but really tough on judges and competitors. Let’s see what else we accomplished/fixed this week…
- We upgraded all but our Block Producer nodes from NodeOS version 1.1.6 to version 1.2.4. We want to do a little more testing and see a little more adoption among other block producers before we go live with it on the BP nodes.
- While testing the wallet software, we discovered a weird idiosyncrasy in the API version we were running. A change to the MainNet repository caused calling certain info from the blockchain to return incorrect info. Other block producers were running the same version, and we have all since upgraded.
- The server load balancer in the KC2 datacenter failed this week which caused Windshield, Glass and some of our nodes to be out of service for a few hours. Once back online we were able to apply the correct config and get everything running smoothly again.
- For some unknown reason two of our three production full nodes got behind on synching with the blockchain. Fortunately one was fine and we were able to just wait until the other two caught up. Naturally we never missed a block.
It’s been wonderful weak and we are proud to be producing blocks for this wonderful community.
Have super week and as usual, feel free to contact us with questions, comments or just to say hi.
