Automated Reader — Reading off an E-reader Screen

Previously, I described the Automated Reader I hacked together with Tesseract OCR and the espeak text-to-speech engine. Here’s the demo of the current version reading off a Kobo E-reader screen. I’ve to say that the performance is somewhat worse than off paper.

This is the text that was on the screen.

It’s rather hilarious. But it works. Sort of. Still working on some buttons, holders, etc for better usability.
