A Cathedral is more than
rock upon rock upon God;
a majestic pileup of devotions
hope atop faith atop love.
A breath of silence being torn
prayer into anthem into void;
a solemn tower of intentions
presence of impermanence of thoughts.
It’s a celebration of bells
centuries by centuries by Us;
It’s the implicit commiserations
pauses for stares for loss.
It’s angels made pillars.
It’s humans subverting both.
It’s prayers made tears.
It’s devotion redeeming words.
A Cathedral is more than
religious rigor towering blocks;
it’s a human testament written
toil over labour over blood.
