I know I shouldn’t be happy. You flew all the way to New York just to bang on my door and weep to my shirt.

I know I shouldn’t be glad. You were heartbroken. Your eyes red, your face pale, your voice hoarse.

I know I shouldn’t have butterflies in my stomach. But when you said you believed leaving her the right choice, I was trying my best to hide my glee.

I know you’re going through a rough time. But you know I’m here. I’m always here.

Here for you to cry, laugh, and fight.

Here for you to take you home after one too much shot.

Here for you to be a friend.
