Privilege and inequality in Silicon Valley

Thank you for sharing your story! It’s easy for people to get into the ‘who had it worse’ arguments, but truly the more people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds speak about this, the better and I think it should be applauded. We all have our own stories and the experience is relative to the individual.

Coming from a working class background myself and also attending an ivy league university as a first generation non-traditional student, I can attest to the fact that a lot of mindset work needs to be done re. so many things, incl. one’s relationship w. money and even accepting opportunities [once you put the work in to gain access to them]. I think that’s why at this point in my life i focus my work on these areas. It’s a huge issue and it’s not going to change overnight.
