Happy Bride: How I Dumped the Wedding Industry
Sarah Schacht

Great article ! and congratulations on starting off SMART !

We, too, did a DIY wedding. Made our own invites, used a family owned chartered boat with full catering for the reception. Best man’s brother in law got us all the wine, spirits and beer at wholesale (we were drinking left overs for about a year). With hire car, flowers, cake — we never used the “W” word and got fair prices. Total cost came in at about 20% of the “typical wedding”.

AND … some of the older guests said it was the BEST wedding they ever attended. We made sure that friends and family felt that they were a part of the celebration. And … all that was 10 years ago! Still going strong and happy.
