There is no question that the core problem lies with management and their tendency to exploit workers until they are spent and then discard them. But, the dynamic is not limited to IT and SillyCon Valley. Managements do the same thing in every industry. A very notable example being law firms that demand 80+ billable hours if you want to keep your job and be considered for associate.
