Pierre Friquet

1. What are the most inspiring aspects of your work in XR?
I combine very personal stories and founding myths with the paradox of letting the visitors take possession of “my” experiences. In a gentle and nurturing way, I allow room for individual differences, rather than impose limits by telling people what their experience should be.

2. What is the most promising, exciting development now happening?
Top secret informations but let’s say it deals with zero-gravity environment.

3. What is the blind spot in XR, something that people seem to overlook?
The blind spot is other senses than sight. We are too blinded with our eyes! They are not the only access to reality.

4. What areas in XR have the biggest growth potential and why?
Multi-users experiences, more coherent contents (oppose to wow-factors VR experiences) and work-related tools will or should expand.

5. Where will XR be in five to ten years from now?
What smartphone is now, XR will be.

6. Anything else you would like to share with us?
Grow your balls!

Pierre Friquet’s presentation at VR Days Europe

Lucid dreamer — VR before VR

Excerpt presentation
Moving away from the tech-talk obsession, VR before VR attempts to define ancient roots, common branches that virtual reality have grown from. Beyond a technology VR or XR is the humanity dream to master reality and control dreams. The presentation will dig into the history of forms and arts like cave painting, Pompeï frescoes, Persian painting and cyberpunk novels.
