Happiness !!

Everyone in this world is in search of Happiness without having decided what happiness is. Modern science says that happiness is a positive range of emotions experienced when we are content or full of joy.

Spiritual science says that true happiness is such that it is never followed by unhappiness and never fades away.

There are three types of happiness in this world:

1. Happiness related to the five senses.

2. Happiness not related to the senses.

3. Happiness beyond the senses.

People desire for things, which give pleasure to the five senses. If you like something you will crave for more and more. Desire is like a burning fire. Even before a single desire is fulfilled, another desire springs up. There is no end to it. You get fed up with it soon and remain unsatisfied all the time. Someone likes pizza very much and the other may not like it at all. True happiness should be the same for all. Everyone would accept it. When we are sick or sad we do not like to eat even our favorite dish. So the happiness experienced by five senses is not real happiness. It is a temporary pleasure. At the saturation point, one will be repelled by the things they once craved for. So these are all temporary, not permanent.

Another kind of happiness comes from family, friends, good health, professional fulfillment and from being loved. It is dependent upon pleasant relationships, external circumstances and objects. But these are the very reasons for our unhappiness as well.

Happiness and unhappiness (misery) are the two sides of the same coin. We have to think of them simultaneously. Whatever things or situations give us unhappiness, can be reduced or solved by avoiding certain things or by setting right understanding.

Everyone must be experiencing in their life that conflict and clashes in relationships give very much pain. So one should try to avoid clashes whenever you get into conflict with someone you must solve the situation with poise, without generating hostility. We observe the traffic rules to prevent an accident. Likewise, one should exercise similar caution in daily life interaction with others. In all cases, both parties suffer. Our Ego and intellect causes conflict. Our entire day may be entire life and sometimes next life too will be ruined. We must decide (resolve) every morning not to hurt anybody. We become noble and graceful to all around us. When hostility and enmity go away, love prevails.

Another reason for our unhappiness is we seek justice always. When you feel that some injustice has been done to you, you blame someone or you feel God has been unjust to you. In reality, nature has never been unjust to anyone. You receive the fruits of your Past Karmas (good or bad deeds of your previous life) Someone blames, hurts, insults you, if your hard earned money gets stolen, unfair distribution of wealth, misery caused by natural disasters. In such circumstances, we become upset and unhappy. But a Gnani Purush (an enlightened being) Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan has given us right understanding that injustice occurs in this life because we were unjust in our past life.

We receive what we have given to others in previous life so one should accept the truth happily, that “Whatever has happened is justice” and “I am suffering because of my own faults” then he will be free from all the worries and sufferings. One should keep positive and balanced attitude constantly while facing success and failure, both are temporary phase of life and are result of our past deeds. People have created so much unhappiness by comparison, jealousy, competition, expectations, too much greed and ego clashes. If all these negative elements go away from our life gradually by setting right understanding, we will be able to experience happiness.

Happiness is also found when you help someone in need. Happiness is also found when you share happiness and love to others without any intention to gain something.

We are trapped in this imaginary and perceived happiness. “Eat, drink and be merry” cannot be the purpose of our life. There is more to life than just living. There should be a higher purpose. Ultimate goal of our life is to attain permanent happiness, total independence and freedom from bondage of karmas. Real happiness comes naturally. It is not dependent on some external things or events. It is beyond the senses. It is the infinite bliss of the “Self”. Such happiness is acquired only after “Self-Realization”. When you are separate from your mind, speech and body, there is no pain or misery felt. The eternal happiness is within you.
