The Electoral College also shreds democracy. To think: he didn’t even win the popular vote (nor did George Dubya). The office of the Presidency itself has become quite problematical. We see it w/ Obama in that whoever holds the office becomes engulfed in the office, like Pharaoh was the ‘Great House’, and they change in ways that are really not helpful and most often turn their backs on a more just rule…if that is how they started their reign.

As agents of a system that cannot completely be justified it’s an impossible conundrum — — thus the disappointment in many quarters for the outgoing office holder. Obviously the incoming one has no such compunctions from the get-go.

I wonder if we should just skip trying to change the electoral college and instead focus on making the President a figurehead and ceremonial, while transitioning to a parliamentary-style democracy…
