This realisation was one of the most freeing things I felt as I was working away my last months in my job half a year ago. Though, to be perfectly honest, it was also a big blow to the ego :D Maybe that’s why we fall pray to the belief so easily…
Yes, I was a valuable asset to my team and my company. But no, I wasn’t irreplacable. No, the world wasn’t going to end because I decided I had to do something else in life. We all need to start understanding that what WE want is equally as important as what our employers want from us. That we should only make as much sacrifice for the job as we are happy with. Because, at the end of the day, the company will deal. Will we?
