on tolerance

Tolerance is unacceptable. To tolerate the existence and heritage of others is arrogance on the part of the tolerator, and demeaning to the tolerated. The term was defined at a time, and by people, for whom the feelings of superiority and privilege were commonplace, in their self-righteousness they were willing to tolerate those of lesser birth. For all people to have equal footing, we need compassion, understanding, and empathy…but never tolerance
