Au contraire: I did just that.
Writing is a subjective art form: finding a word, (or phrase, sentence, paragraph, hell, a whole narrative) jarring or inconsistent is totally fine. I’ve written an entire post about my pet peeves in novels. The semantics are where I’ll argue you. My mother was a consummate grammarian and she raised me in her grammatical image; I’ll defend those points till my dying breath.
I also hope you still see the sarcasm and tongue-in-cheek nature of my writing from the original piece through our tête-à-tête. I’m a piss-poor humor writer, so missing that is a distinct possibility.
