The Daily Dot nominated for Digiday Publisher of the Year & Best Native Advertising

The Daily Dot strives to find and tell the best stories of the Internet. We do it because we believe in the power of journalism, but we have to admit…an award here and there feels pretty damn good, too. This week Digiday announced its Annual Publishing Awards, and for the second year in a row, we are honored to be among the nominees for Publisher of the Year.
The last year has also brought incredible partnerships to the Daily Dot, with brands seeking to leverage our unique knowledge of Internet communities and culture — what we call “helping brands speak internet.” Our branded content team is thrilled to see our partnership with Heineken honored as a nominee in the Best Native Advertising category. The “City Kickstarts” campaign allowed us to reinforce Heineken’s position as “beer of the city” through custom content that showcased and celebrated people making their cities special through crowdfunding–a key beat for the Daily Dot.

The campaign launched in July and has since amassed more than 600,000 unique visitors, as well as over 400,000 likes, shares, and comments across social media. That kind of native engagement tells a story all on its own, and we loved seeing our readers rally around the inspirational Kickstarter projects and help to bring the projects to new audiences under the Heineken banner.
We look forward to continuing to bring the best stories from the Internet to our audience and are grateful to see a brand leader like Digiday acknowledge the hard work of our editors and advertising staff.
