“Siren’s Sacrifice”

In a kingdom beneath the sea so vast,
Where waves danced and coral reefs were cast,
Lived a mermaid, fair and full of grace,
With a heart longing for a human’s embrace.

Her name you know, a spirit untamed,
A voice that enchanted, a soul unclaimed.
But yearning for a world she could not touch,
She dreamt of love, her heart’s ardent clutch.

Upon a moonlit night, destiny took hold,
A stormy sea, a sailor bold.
A prince, lost amidst the tempest’s might,
A fate entwined, like threads of light.

The mermaid, in her watery abode,
Watched as the prince’s life almost erode.
With courage unyielding, she saved his life,
Her voice unheard, drowned by the sea’s strife.

Love blossomed, though their worlds apart,
The mermaid’s devotion etched within her heart.
She sought out the Sea Witch, a pact she made,
A voice for legs, a gamble paid.

Her enchanting voice, her song so pure,
Now silenced, forever lost allure.
Transformed into human, legs she wore,
But with a sacrifice, her voice she bore.

On land, a newfound world she’d explore,
Yet silence stifled, her voice no more.
The girl, now nameless, caught in a trance,
Yearned for love, yearned for the chance.

But the Sea Witch’s words held a sinister plot,
Her love’s true kiss, the only knot.
If he love another, her soul would be lost,
Forever condemned, a heart’s ultimate cost.

With passing time, her heart grew deep,
The prince’s love, she longed to keep.
But fate was cruel, another took his hand,
A princess true, a love she couldn’t withstand.

As the day waned, her heart torn apart,
She faced a choice, a bitter depart.
But love knows no bounds, no depths untold,
For her selfless act, a transformation unfold.

Upon the ocean’s edge, she’d turn to foam,
Her spirit released, forever to roam.
But in her sacrifice, a twist unseen,
The daughters of air, a soul redeemed.

Her selfless love, a testament of grace,
Returned to the sea, in a heavenly embrace.
Now an ethereal spirit, forever free,
A love eternal, beneath the endless sea.

And so, the tale of the mermaid fair,
A story of love, a bittersweet affair.
Her voice may be silenced, but her spirit lives on,
In the depths of the ocean, where dreams once shone.

Based on “The Little Mermaid” by Hans Christian Anderson | 1837.
