8 Coffee Subscriptions to Automatically Bring the Best, Freshest, Tastiest, Most Exclusive Beans to Your Door

Why is a tech blog talking about coffee so much? Not long ago we published Coffee Tech: The 10 Coolest and Best NEW Coffee Makers on the Planet! And now we’re following that up with the best coffee subscriptions. For one thing, I’ve recently branched out beyond Frappuccinos to enjoy coffee in it’s less sugary forms. Rarely a day goes buy where you won’t find a cup of coffee on my desk in the office or studio. Also, startups with some fun tech are invading the coffee space: see Driftaway below for an example. If you’re looking for the best coffee (from small lot to big flavor) and want to get it hassle-free, you’re in the right place.
Grady’s Brew-It-Yourself Club
If you were to ask me what my favorite coffee in the world was I would enthusiastically reply, “Grady’s Cold Brew!!!!” I LOVE this coffee and I was only going to mention it in the intro to this article but, low and behold, I discovered this morning that they offer a subscription! I tell everyone about it. And no, this is not a paid placement (although Grady’s was nice enough to send our office lots of awesome free coffee). It’s not bitter (not at all) and I’m really into cold coffee. It brews overnight in your fridge too, so it’s really convenient (since you have several cups of coffee ready to go at once which can wait in the fridge for weeks rather than having to brew every morning).
Starbucks Reserve brings you small lot coffee delivered monthly. You’ll get exclusive rare, single origin beans that are roasted in Starbucks Seattle Roastery and Tasting Room. Honestly, it’s very hard to beat the taste and consistency of Starbucks.
Driftaway Coffee Subscription
The Driftaway Coffee Subscription is different. Rather than having a curated selection of coffee magically appear on your door step YOU are the curator. You’ll get a tasting kit with 4 coffees to sample which you can rate in the accompanying app. Once you’ve picked your favorites you’ll start receiving that match your taste on your schedule.
Pony Brand Coffee Subscription
Similar to the Driftaway subscription above, the Pony Brand Coffee Subscription lets you sample 4 coffees to discover your coffee preferences. Once your tastes have been established you’ll receive coffee geared toward your liking from Pony’s 4 main categories: Light & Crisp, Sweet & Juicy, Rich & Creamy or Calendar Blend.
Blue Bottle Coffee Subscription
Blue Bottle’s Coffee Subscription service is probably the most flexible out of the bunch (with a well-implemented user interface). You can easily (and that’s important) select the amount of coffee you’d like to receive, the frequency and the type (espresso, blend or Origins). If you’ve already got a favorite (or don’t want to confuse your tastebuds with constantly changing beans) you can also subscribe to a particular type of coffee.
Pact Coffee Subscription
Pact Coffee wants to ensure that the coffee you consume is fair by paying above the Fair trade rate for each of their coffees. Uniquely, Pact can offer a recommendation as to what your first coffee should be based on how you make it. If flavors like sticky toffee pudding, strawberries and cream, dark chocolate cherry truffle and malt milk chocolate shake get you excited then Pact might be for you.
Bow Truss Coffee Subscription
The Bow Truss Coffee Subscription lineup contains a dozen different roasts at any given time. Not only can you subscribe to receive these small lot coffees for yourself at home, but you can also tailor subscriptions for your entire office!
Philz Coffee Subscription
Philz Coffee. I’ve never had it, but hey, they offer a subscription. You can choose from Blends, Decaf, Specialty or Varietals with prices in the $18–20 range. You can select the blend, frequency and grind (there’s even a place for grind notes).
