Suge Knight is a name that all are familiar with — former CEO of Death Row Records and one of the most prominent figures of gangsta rap. Born Marion Hugh Knight Jr. in Compton, Suge Knight would initially begin with a football career. He played professionally for the Los Angeles Rams for two games. After his stint in the NFL, Knight became a club promoter and bodyguard for those like Bobby Brown. He would eventually become acquainted with the gangsta rap group N.W.A through this.

Alongside Dr. Dre and The D.O.C., Suge co-founded Death Row Records in 1991. His career would reach unprecedented measures but also come with various feuds with Sean Combs, or Puff Daddy, and an eventual falling out with Dr. Dre, who would leave Death Row to form his record label. By 2006, Knight had filed for bankruptcy.

More trouble followed Suge Knight over the years and, frankly, decades. His run-ins with the law began during the mid-90s — assault, probation violations, more assaults, robbery, and, “recently,” involuntary manslaughter.
