For animal behaviour lovers, a chameleon may seem like the ultimate pet: They can change colour, move their eyes independently of one another and use their prehensile tail to move through tree branches in a similar fashion to new world monkeys.

But some aspects of chameleon behaviour make them challenging to keep as pets, explains Ralph Bailey, chief vet at East Barnet Veterinary Surgery and reptile enthusiast. In the video above, he outlines some unusual chameleon quirks that should be considered before deciding to keep one as a pet.

This video was shot on an iPhone5S and edited on iMovie.

Big thanks to Ralph Bailey and co at East Barnet Veterinary Surgery.
