Every time I go back and read excerpts from Hackers, I understand a little more. When I read this as a kid, I couldn’t care less about the IBM 704 or the TMRC but I really appreciate now how the folks working on this at MIT revolutionized computing. I’m very thankful people did that work before I got my Apple IIe (which made hacking sooooo much more accessible outside of the priesthood).
