What does “Jesus is God” mean?

I can find nowhere in the Bible where Jesus and God differ. Using, for example, John’s quotation of Isaiah which he footnotes as having been prophesied when Isaiah saw Jesus, the description by Paul in Colossians of Jesus the Messiah, the words of Jesus to the Pharisees that Abraham had seen Him, etc. The most you can say is that Jesus is distinct from the Father, but Jesus identifies Himself as the Alpha and the Omega, which is clearly Yahweh. And it is this same Yahweh that is the object of the Shema, an unmistakably monotheistic prayer. God Almighty identifies Himself as one God and three persons. I don’t pretend to understand that, but I do believe it to be true. Consider a couple of attributes of God. He is eternal, He is love. We can easily deduce therefore that God has existed eternally as a community of persons. I am currently studying and teaching the first chapter of the gospel of John and I am more convinced than ever that Jesus is God.
