I disagree with Ms. Lawton. A Presidential pardon is not a judicial proceeding. It is an act of grace by the executive.
In the event, who would have standing to challenge a pardon issued by a President to himself/herself? A zealous prosecutor perhaps? It would be an uphill climb.
Unless there was a palpable and clear cut illegal act by the President, a prosecutor would not be able to conduct one of the semi-permanent investigations required to prosecute political crimes.
