If the Democratic Party were still functioning as a national political party, it could flip the Congress over this.

There are some things that the market doesn’t do well. Healthcare insurance is one of them. Logically, Medicare for all or some similar single payer system is the only way to solve all the problems of the current system. But the Dems don’t go for this (In fact, their last Presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, said that single payer “…will never ever happen.”)

The Republicans probably can’t kill Obamacare in the Senate. But Obamacare is, itself, a right wing mishmash. The Dems need to get ahead of the curve and start pushing single payer. At the very least that would force Republicans to defend the status quo, which is Obamacare.
