Meh. President Trump might have been a little reckless but, seriously, does anybody really believe that the Israelis were going to accept a two state solution? If that’s what they wanted, they wouldn’t have been building settlements all over the Occupied Territories.

Of course, they don’t want a one state solution either, if there are Palestinians living in it. They really want the Palestinians gone. As Secretary said, in the one state solution, they can be a Jewish state or a democracy, but they can’t be both.

The stable equilibrium is a rigid apartheid state, with periodic uprising or disturbances by the Palestinians alternating with fascistic crackdowns by the Israelis. And, of course, periodic Israeli killing sprees against the people living in Gaza.

We can continue to blow smoke about a “Mideast peace process,” but nobody believes it anymore.
