When colleges allow, and some faculty even encourage, leftist students to “shut down” any speaker they might disagree with, academia has a major free speech problem.

It is reasonable for an education secretary to comment on that, and it would be reasonable to tie federal funding to guarantees that free speech and the free exchange of idea will be maintained.
