Covid-19 Pandemic consequences

The last time I visited Italy was in the summer of 2020 and spent there ten days. I could easily feel that it was not the same country as it was before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. As you probably know, Italy was one of the first countries in the world that was heavily hit by the Covid-19 pandemic and it was one of the first countries in the world that introduced lockdowns at a large scale.

Historically, Italy is a country that has influenced the world in many aspects with its culture, art, music, science, and gastronomy. However, the influence of Italy in the West has not been always positive and on few occasions, its story has many shades of grey.

The recent events occurring in Italy regarding the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic and its consequences are, unfortunately, very questionable, sad, ugly, and makes me question if Italy is an EU democratic country that is supposed to protect its citizens and their human rights given by the Italian constitution.
