Illinois Governor will Honor Fallen Veterans with a Special day

On September 26th, Governer Rauner declares Gold Star Family Day to Illiniois. This is a day after Gold Star Mother’s Day.

On yesterday, Governor Rauner had Gold Star Mother’s Day, but today will serve as a day to encourage families.

In particular, the families of fallen war veterans and all their loved ones.

Gover Rauner decalared September 26th Gold Star Family Day in Illinois. This will be a day to pay respects to not just the mothers, but the entire family and close friends as well.

“Today we honor the supportive and loving families that our American heroes left behind when they made the ultimate sacrifice,” Governor Rauner said.

The Gold Star Mother’s organization has been around since 1982, and honors the mothers who have lost a son or daughter through service.

Governor Rauner signed HB4389 to designate the day after Gold Star Mothers’ Day as Gold Star Family Day in August.

“Today in Illinois we celebrate all the families who have experineced unimaginable lost,” Governor Rauner said.

This will serve as the first ever Gold Star Family Day. This idea will help bring awareness to the sacrifices and hardships that these families have to endure.
