Nice summary of NVC in the vegan advocacy context. This really limits our “toolkit” so to speak, and unless we have 100% sincerity and compassion for the non-vegan we address, it appears our message will be dismissed easily. On Mothers’ day we did a demo with a simple slogan “dairy industry exploits motherhood” — no name calling of the non-vegan, just informing them what the dairy industry does. One response we got was from an outraged mother saying she never felt her motherhood was exploited when the doctor recommended her to give dairy milk in addition to her breast milk to her infants. A WTF moment when we had to hold on to NVC tightly lest we go insane!
