Ground Zero and the One World Trade Building

New York City

For a week, a hotel located in New York City was my home. That was my only source of refuge. New York City itself is a dirty city, with smokers everywhere, garbage lying on the floor, but at the same time, it is a beautiful city; the skyline is a famous example of this, with its glorious building and its wonderful silhouette. New York city stands more than the city itself, but for the meaning of success. New York city is a place where the rich and the poor are no different, and anyone could succeed. If you can thrive here, you can thrive anywhere.

New York City’s mass transportation system is very interesting, allowing one to travel anywhere very quickly. Its grid and subway system are very effective to allow one to travel from one side of the city to the other, and it is intuitive, and very easy to use it. The subway is one of the most effective forms of transportation. The system works by running trains underneath the streets, allowing for easy, timed mass transportation.

Museums

In New York, there was a large amount of museums, but I chose to go to two, the Natural History Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Met

The Met one of the most famous museums in the world, with its incredible collection and amazing architecture, this museum is world renounced, being one of the best museums in USA, since its opening in 1872. This museum is an amazing, knowledge rich environment, however, in my limited time that I had, I could only see a fraction of its true glory. The Met inspired many books, one of which is, From the Mixed up Files of Mrs Basil E Frankweiler, a book in which some of us have read. The Met is a one in a kind museum, composing of mostly original artwork. It is a amazing place, and is one of the most renowned museums of its kind. Ranging from a beautiful rooftop garden to a Pablo Picasso’s work, it is an amazing and wonderful place.

National Museum of Natural History

The National Museum of Natural History is a place filled with Taxidermy animals, but importantly, knowledge of our past. This is filled with wonderful exhibits, ranging from the history of the Earth, to the animals on it. It all began in 1846 in the Smithsonian castle; The museum was located there for 50 years until congress allowed them to build a designated building in 1902; That is the building that stands today. Today, the museum is the second most visited museum in the world, and the most visited natural history museum. This place was amazing, and it consisted of real fossils, and even had the most complete Tyrannosaurus skeleton ever found(UC Berkeley has a cast iron model). The Natural History Museum is a really a wonderful place to visit and I enjoyed my trip there.
