According to Darwin and all of modern science, life on this earth is nothing more than a long chain of happy accidents. Over the vast aeons of time, chance mutations pile up and changes which offer some benefit are incorporated into the next generation. Eventually a worm turns into an elephant, or some such. Sounds easy enough, perhaps, as long as you don’t think about it too much.
